My freshman year, my friends and I came up with a cultural club called Hindu Student Association. It used to be a club that existed a few years ago, however we brought the club back last year. We saw potential in HSA and for it to be successful at UC. The purpose of the club is to spread diversity and culture throughout the campus. My position in the club last year was vice president, where I helped in planning the meetings and promote the club further. At first it was arduous to make HSA become more known and for people to find an interest in joining since it was a fairly new club and there were already cultural clubs that existed. However, with hard work and dedication we got about 40 members. Being vice president helped me go out of my comfort zone and perform as a leader and be confident in who I am. I also learned more about my religion and was able to express and teach it to others as well, which is something I take pride in. I hope to be able to expand the club even more my junior year, given that I will be president and I hope to improve upon it. I am beyond grateful for having this experience and building connections with wonderful people.

This is the logo of HSA, which symbolizes Hinduism and the importance behind culture and religion. My team and I came up with this logo which is also why it represents our teamwork and dedication.
